Things To Do In Veitnam In One Week

Day 1: Arrival in Ho Chi Minh City

Take the flight which arrives in Ho Chi Minh City in the morning, and as expected, the immigration lines were quite crowded. Ensure you allow plenty of time for this process if you arrive in the morning.

First on your itinerary was a visit to Ben Thanh Market, a vibrant and bustling spot filled with local goods and a great place to start exploring the city. For lunch, try some crispy and delicious Banh Xeo at Bep Me In on Le Thanh Ton Street.

In the afternoon, explore the city! Recommendations are below.

  •  Buu Dien Station, where you can send a postcard home—such a simple yet memorable way to mark your trip.
  • Tan Dinh Church, a stunning pink church that's perfect for photo opportunities.
  • Get a Banh Mi from the market, a tasty and satisfying dinner.

Day 2: Mekong River Tour and Nightlife

For a second day, take the full-day Mekong River tour, which costs around 40 AUD per person. It will be an incredible experience, allowing you to immerse yourself in the natural beauty of Vietnam.

For dinner, Pho Quynh, a local pho stand would be the best choice as you can enjoy a delicious bowl of Pho for just 5 AUD.

After dinner go to Bui Vien Street, known for its lively nightlife with numerous nightclubs and pubs. Even just walking down the street was an exciting experience, full of energy and vibrant sights.

Day 3: Exploring Da Nang

Take a morning flight to Da Nang, which costs around 150 AUD. Once you arrive, the recommendation to visit the city is below.

  • Da Nang Cathedral where you can see the huge pink church
  • Dragon Bridge where you might be able to see the fire and water show if you are lucky

Day 4: Day Trip to Hoi An

In the morning, rent Ao Dai, the traditional Vietnamese dress, and prepare for a trip to Hoi An. You can use Grab for transportation and arrange for the driver to pick me up for the return journey as well. The day was spent exploring the charming and historic town of Hoi An, a highlight of my trip.

📍Viet sense Ao dai. Ca phe. Banh mi (you can rent Ao Dai full day)

Day 5: Journey to Hue

Take a morning train to Hue, a journey that takes about 3 hours and costs around 10 AUD. While the train ride isn't convenient, it offers a wonderful cultural experience. You can book online but the credit card didn't work so I would recommend you to book the ticket at the station.

Hue is known for its rainy weather, so recommend you to visit a spa. For around 120 AUD, you can enjoy a full-service treatment, which was a perfect way to relax.

Day 6: Historical Hue and Travel to Hanoi

Spent the day exploring the historical sites in Hue. Since it can be difficult to find Uber in the city, you should hire one, for the whole day and ask the driver to guide you around. You can visit...

  • Thien Mu Pagoda
  • Dai Noi
  • Nha Tho Dong Chua Cuu The Hue
  • Mausoleum of Emperor Khai Dinh

In the evening, I took a night flight to Hanoi. After arriving, you should visit Pho Ga Nguyet, a pho stand open until midnight, where I had a delicious bowl of pho for just 2 AUD.

Day 7: Exploring Hanoi

The final day, explore the city of Hanoi. For breakfast, try some Bún Bò Huế, a local specialty. The best way to find good places to eat is by asking the locals for their recommendations, and this tip certainly paid off.

Just a week but it will be a good and memorable week in Vietnam. Enjoy your trip!
